Park City Books

The Park City Library is considered as the heart of the town. This particular library resulted from the efforts and hard work of the community for a number of years. The work for establishing this particular library started from September of 1888. It was in 1917 that a petition was passed which declared that a public library should be established in the town of Park City and that taxes should be levied on all the property owners in the town. The money generated with the tax deduction should be utilized for the maintenance of the library. With the passing of the bill, the library was established.

As the city grew, the need for a bigger library was soon felt. In the mid 50’s the Miners Hospital was completely shut down and it was later on, in the 1970’s, that renovations of the whole building continued and the whole building was transformed into a library. With the passage of time, this particular library kept on growing and over the years it transformed into an Education Center. With the cooperation of the whole community, this particular Library took on several projects and completed them successfully over a period of time including the famous Reading Gardens in 1977. With the whole community volunteering their time, skill and money, they were able to create a place, which provided a peaceful environment for everyone to read books, chat and enjoy the outdoors.
